Set – Lowicz Easter Eggs on goose eggs

Easter in Poland is a church holiday, celebrating the Paschal mystery. For others, it is also a springtime relaxation. The holiday is full of traditions and folk customs, which, depending on the region, have their color and patterned counterparts. We decorate houses using symbols, we cultivate old customs. The most popular ones are: making a palm tree, painting Easter eggs, preparing an Easter basket, or pouring water in Śmigusa Dyngusa. Painting Easter eggs comes from old Slavonic beliefs, where the egg was a symbol of vitality and new life. It mediated between the human world and gods and spirits. In different regions of Poland, Easter eggs are created in a characteristic way, the following styles must be distinguished among them:
– Nalepianki – popular in the regions of Kraków and Łowicz. These are blown eggs decorated with colorful paper cutouts.
– Oklejanki – found in the Masovian region. It is blown eggs covered with colorful yarn and rush core, creating unique ornaments.
– Kraszanki – come from the northern part of Poland. The name comes from the word “krasić”, meaning “to color”, because kraszanki are eggs cooked in a colorful broth – previously obtained only from natural ingredients such as onion shells, oak bark, walnut shells, beet juice or young rye sprouts. Various patterns are often scratched on them.

Our sets were made by Polish folk artists, they are handicrafts at every stage of creation. They consist of 4 shells of goose eggs decorated with cutouts from the Łowicz region, i.e. these are typical stickers. Everything is closed in an elegant white box lined with hay.
