Female Folk Costume from Kurpie

One of the most famous collections of Bombkarnia is the one referring to regional embroidery. We want to present the heritage of Polish folk art in a new way, i.e. on glass baubles.

The hand-made figurine of Kurpianka shows the details of regional embroidery with all the substantive elements. The Kurpie folk costume comes from the area of ​​Mazovia. The women’s outfit consists of a homespun shirt, knee-length, decorated with embroidery on the collar and cuffs, sometimes pleated. A homespun skirt with colorful longitudinal stripes is put on it, with a colorful bodice sewn to it, the so-called A “dress” with a “chest” or “smock” – a gray “coat” made of linen with colored vertical stripes. A “wrestling” apron is tied at the waist, reaching the knees or equal to the skirt.
