Lajkonik

It is a folk party that takes place in Krakow every year. The main protagonist of the game is the title Lajkonik, who walks on an artificial horse attached to his belt, traverses the traditional route from Zwierzyniec to the Main Square in Krakow, accompanied by the Mlaskot band and a retinue of yarns dressed in Krakow and “Tatar” costumes. In 2014, the game was entered on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

A bearded, richly dressed Lajkonik rushes on horseback. A bearded Lajkonik in a traditional, richly ornamented outfit, consisting of a turban, a golden-red robe and a saber pinned to his side, rushes on a horse covered with a brown, richly ornamented saddle pad. The cope, like all the details of the entire character, was outlined with glitter particles. The figurine belongs to the original “Krakow” collection of Bombkarnia, in which we also offer Krakowiak and Krakowianka. Each character was hand-made, and the creators carefully gave it a unique character – there are no two identical baubles.
