A set of Christmas balls – Carollers

The visit of carolers at home was to bring happiness to the family throughout the year.

Often times, carolers made small performances that showed gospel stories and referred to the evil king Herod.

At the end of each, Herod is put to death and the devil takes his soul.

That is why these representations were called herodes.

Although the tradition of caroling is known throughout Poland, it differs depending on the region.
