One of the most famous collections of Bombkarnia is the one referring to regional embroidery. We want to present the heritage of Polish folk art in a new way, i.e. on glass baubles. The hand-made Podlasie’s figurine shows the details of regional embroidery while maintaining all the substantive elements.
This costume has been worn since the beginning of the 19th century by peasants from the lands of Podlasie, located in the east Poland. It is one of the best known Polish folk costume, but also one of the most modified.
Podlasie male folk dress customarily includes: a white shirt with embroidered collar and cuffs, colorful coat – „lejbik“ and characteristic white pants. The whole costume is completed with a felt hat decorated with sequins and beads, a woollen belt and leather boots. This handmade glass boy brings memories about the traditional costume and the embroidery from the Mazovia region. It belongs to the Bombkarnia author’s collection.
