The bauble is a British custom that has been practiced for more than a thousand years. A tradition in which English rulers count the number of swans each year is called ‘Swan Upping.’ The ceremony dates back to the 12th century, when the English crown first claimed ownership of all mute swans, which were considered a delicacy. Today, it is an important part of nature conservation.
It was made with attention to the smallest details.
